Reflections and Resilience: A Look Back at 2024, Ready for 2025

November 28, 2024

What a year it has been! As we inch closer to 2025, it’s hard not to feel like the past year just flew by in the blink of an eye. It feels like 2023 was just yesterday.

As we move into the final stretch of 2024, I can’t help but reflect on the whirlwind of experiences we’ve had.  It’s a bit like reaching a mountaintop and turning back to survey the path we’ve climbed over the last 12 months—all the moments that challenged us, triumphs that lifted us, and the steady, quiet determination from every team member.

Reflecting on What We’ve Accomplished

To be completely honest, this year wasn’t an easy one. The rapid rise of AI technology shook industries across the globe, leading to widespread layoffs—even within multinational companies that seemed unshakable. The Philippines was no exception, and neither was Lexcode. We had to adapt to survive, which meant creating new services, restructuring teams, and diving into the evolving world of Generative AI.

As the one managing and overseeing the branch, I witnessed firsthand how these changes were met with mixed emotions. Some chose to leave, saying heartfelt goodbyes, while others stayed—eager to upskill and support Lexcode’s new direction. Thanks to the perseverance of those who remained, we were able to pivot and introduce innovative solutions to the market. But let’s be real—it wasn’t all smooth sailing. There have been countless moments of almost giving up and feeling the urge to leave, especially when market demand dipped, and sales took a hit.

Yet, we weren’t entirely surprised by this downturn. Experts had predicted these shifts, and we always knew it was a matter of time. What truly mattered, however, was how we responded. And that’s where our collective resilience shone through. This year also highlighted something unexpected: a shift in how people approach work. I noticed that younger professionals are valuing work-life balance and mental well-being more than ever. It’s encouraging to see these priorities taking center stage. However, there’s also a growing concern about the lack of accountability and leadership in some areas—a trend that might have more lasting implications than fluctuating market conditions.

One thing that stood out to me this year was the importance of having a team of skilled, intelligent, truly dedicated, and compassionate individuals. Watching them grow—whether it’s mastering a new skill, taking the lead on projects, or simply collaborating more effectively—has been incredibly rewarding. It’s clear that together, we’ve not only adapted but thrived in the face of challenges, leaning on each other’s strengths and building resilience as a team.

Some achievements were more obvious, like successfully delivering projects, meeting KAI and AKAIs, and onboarding new clients. But for me, the quieter wins were just as significant—like how we improved communication, streamlined workflows, and strengthened the bonds among us. These smaller, less visible victories are the ones that truly make a difference.

Celebrating Together

If there’s one lesson I’ve learned, it’s the importance of celebrating both the big and small victories. It’s all too easy to get caught up in the rush of deadlines and daily tasks, letting achievements pass by without acknowledgment. But every effort counts, whether it’s late nights, weekend work, or those moments of breakthrough that no one else sees.  I’m incredibly proud of each person’s contribution, and I hope that as you read this, you feel the same sense of pride.

I’ll admit, there were times when I questioned whether we were succeeding. It’s easy to feel like a failure when we don’t hit every goal we set. But writing this reflection reminded me of something important: true failure is when we stop trying, when we give up without even trying to improve. And that’s not who we are. So, before this year ends,  let’s take a moment to look back and appreciate what we’ve done. From team-building events and monthly gatherings to shared laughter and hard days that ended in triumph—these moments have been worth it and are what make our journey meaningful.

Getting Ready for 2025

As 2025 comes into view, I’m filled with a mix of excitement and nerves. There’s something about a new year that brings a sense of anticipation, and while reflecting on 2024 fills me with gratitude, the future holds its own promise. We have fresh goals on the horizon, and I truly believe that each one of us has something valuable to bring to the table.

One of my hopes for the upcoming year is that we continue to grow, both as individuals and as a team. I’m committed to helping us recapture Lexcode’s former glory by developing new and profitable solutions. Each of us has areas where we can improve—whether it’s honing our skills, becoming better communicators, or deepening our connections with clients and partners. Let’s step into 2025 with open minds, ready to embrace whatever comes our way, knowing that we have what it takes to succeed.

Wrapping It All Up

As we prepare to close this year, I just want to say thank you. I’m deeply grateful for the work we’ve done, the challenges we’ve faced, and the resilience we’ve shown. More than anything, I’m grateful for the privilege of working alongside my team in Operations and everyone across Lexcode. It’s not just about getting the job done, but about doing it with purpose, supporting each other, and finding meaning and growth in the process.

So here’s to ending 2024 with a sense of pride and stepping into 2025 with renewed energy, ambitious goals, and the same unwavering determination that has brought us this far. Thank you for being a part of this journey. I hope you stay, and together, let’s make next year our best yet.

After all, ‘thank you’ should be only phrase the soldiers need to exchange after surviving the battle fields…
