I finally did it—I bought the perfume I had been planning to get since forever. It’s a graduation gift to myself—a well-deserved one. LOL.
So, I went to Carousell PH to look for the perfume I wanted. Have you heard of it? It’s an online shopping platform, a treasure trove of preloved items. Sure, I could’ve just gone to the mall and bought it, but I figured I might score a better deal on Carousell.
Here’s the thing about Carousell PH—it’s surprisingly like a dating app. You scroll through sellers’ profiles/listings, check their photos, and look for red flags. Well, at least that’s what I do. I even find it amusing to read bad reviews about the products. What’s weirder is that I get a little disappointed when I can’t find any. Too perfect? Definitely sketchy.
Before you even chat with a seller, you’re already judging them—their profile picture, reviews, how they describe their items, and even their username. All of this—without a single click—is part of how they win your trust.
And that’s exactly what brilliant marketing should do.
Before messaging the seller, I was already sold. This person seems legit. Why? Because:
• The product photos looked clean and real.
• The description was specific, not vague or copied and pasted.
• The seller had multiple good reviews and even repeat buyers.
• There were no typos or weird emojis. (Seriously, that matters.)
So, when I finally hit “Message,” I wasn’t just curious. I was ready to buy.
When I first joined Lexcode as a Marketing and SEO Associate, I thought marketing was all about clicks, sales, and how you treat your customers. I mean, aren’t those the most important things? Well, of course, they are. But at Lexcode, I’ve learned something even more powerful: building trust.
I saw how our CEO placed complete faith in the skills of our developers in building our new product, how our clients trusted us with their document translations, and how many of them kept coming back, service after service. I used to think our sales came mainly from the Meta and Google ads we run.
But that Carousell purchase? It completely shifted my perspective.
The product’s look hooked me; the description was detailed and clear, and there were consistent 4- to 5-star reviews from previous buyers.
Professional. Polished. Trusted.
That’s how the seller’s profile spoke to me—like standing in front of a successful business tycoon in a perfectly tailored suit, backed by hundreds—maybe thousands—of people vouching for them. They didn’t even have to say a word. I knew they were trustworthy and reliable. And that’s the thing—they earned my trust before I even clicked “Message.”
That’s not just marketing. That’s the power of branding, design, and social proof working together. When you get that right, you’re not chasing clicks—clicks come to you.
