Lexcode recently provided Remote Simultaneous Interpretation in Bisaya for an international workshop, enabling seamless multilingual discussions via Zoom. The participants from different countries remotely joined the said workshop.
The client was an international organization that focuses on providing humanitarian protection and support to individuals impacted by various forms of violence. They aim to bring together a network of humanitarian negotiators across different organizations, contexts, and world regions through workshops
– The organization wanted to hear different perspectives and experiences, so they invited participants from around the globe to share their stories.
The project involved providing simultaneous interpretation services for a diverse group of 26 participants who attended the workshop from different nationalities or 10 countries. To ensure effective communication and bridge language gaps, two (2) Bisaya simultaneous interpreters were engaged to facilitate seamless interaction among attendees. This collaborative effort fostered a more inclusive and engaging environment for everyone.
Timeline: October–November 2024 (4 weeks)
One of the challenges faced during the event was the unstable internet connection of an interpreter due to weather conditions. To ensure seamless communication, a backup internet connection was in place, and a simultaneous interpretation partner was ready to step in when needed. This proactive approach guaranteed uninterrupted interpretation, allowing participants to engage fully throughout the workshop.
The event was a success, with remote simultaneous interpretation provided throughout the event, which provided sufficient support and seamless communication each day of the workshop. A participant from the Philippines actively shared their experience with the support of skilled interpreters.
There was also one activity wherein the participants had to engage in a role-play exercise to help them understand and learn the different perspectives in various situations. Interpreters played a key role in delivering and sending messages to one another. Their engagement was evident, as the participants understood it as they reacted with laughter or seriousness, fully immersing themselves in their roles.
This was our second time supporting the international organization with their workshop, having previously assisted them with Tagalog <> English remote simultaneous interpretation services last May 2023.
